Washington in the spring and summer is hard to beat- and it was especially showing off this April day for the Pexton’s family photos! We went to the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park, which has a great variety for photoshoots! Let these photos be your sign that you don’t have to schedule family photos for golden hour, especially if you have little kids who’s sleep schedules won’t allow for it- you can still get beautiful photos in the bright sun 🙂
We started at the lighthouse, with its beautiful green lawns and buildings. Ellis, like most toddlers, wasn’t too interested in sitting down and holding still, but that didn’t stop us from capturing magical family moments! Jared and Emma were great at rolling with him and letting him lead the way. The more you try and force your kids to smile or sit, the more upset they’ll get. When getting family photos with little kids, just focus on playing and having fun and let your photographer do the rest.

The Mukilteo Beach is a toddler’s dream- rocks as far as the eyes can see, birds, and ferries! Not to mention the lighthouse makes for a picturesque backdrop. There are tons of places you can explore and ways to keep your kids entertained here. The Pexton family also had the perfect outfits to go with the gorgeous PNW scenery. If you’re not sure where to start with family photo outfits, check out my post here for some ideas!

Another thing that makes Mukilteo Lighthouse Park perfect for family photos is its proximity to Ivar’s! After we had finished our session, Emma and Jared told me they were headed to get ice cream cones, to which I excitedly asked to tag along- and I’m so glad they said yes! These may not be your typical family photos, but they’re some of my favorites from the whole afternoon.

I loved photographing this sweet family in Mukilteo! If you’re looking for a bright and colorful family photographer in Snohomish County, let’s chat!
